Did you get your highschool diploma or drop out early and just go and get your GED? If you're one of those who dropped out early and eventually got their GED, why?

I got my high school diploma even though I moved away from my home about one week before graduating. I never missed a day of school most years and I tried very hard to make good grades. I moved out and still made good grades, never missed school and graduated. [stephcjh]
I dropped out of school years ago. I did go back and finish high school online from Penn Foster. [Shaun72]
That sounds great. I had to start from the bottom at Pen Foster. I finished though 2 years ago. I think because I dropped out in 1987 almost 20 years ago. [Shaun72]
I did get my high school diploma and have never experienced dropping out ever. I am one of those who seem to feel the need to keep on studying and update myself. Soon I would be joining the open university wherein I could continue taking up my master's degree.(hopefully!) [cdparazo]
I didn't drop out of high school. I got kicked out because I was pregnant. After my son was born, I had no desire, nor did I have the money for daycare so I got my GED. When my son turned 13, I started college and got my 4 year degree. [girlgonefishing]
I made it almost throught the 10th grade and dropped out early due to being in fostercare and being moved around alot. I tried to get my Ged and never did but despite this I held down a job for over 12 years as an admin secretary and then worked over 5 years for the Oregon State Police in ID Services till I became disabled. It goes to show you that you can do anything you want no matter where you came from as long as you apply yourself and work hard at it! [kimlot]
I gratuated mid-term and received a diploma... [queenofarms]
I got a high school diploma, LouieW. I used to teach the G.E.D., though. [Transdisc]
i personally got my high school diploma. but honestly, getting a GED is not a bad thing. you do have the opportunity to go to a community college and if you work hard at a community college you can always transfer to a 4 year and work your way up. not saying that i recommend those of you in high school to do that, but it is always an option. i understand that not everyone has an easy ride. some of us have sick family members to take care of, or a death of a loved one, or some type of something that can hold us back. but still, we gotta stay strong even when life throws us an obstacle [tiiffanyluvzuxx]
Truth be told, I dropped out in the 11th grade at 17. I was hit by a car the day before thanksgiving and was out of school for 3 months. When I went back they told me that I'd have to re-do the whole grade even though I'd kept up with the work. They gave me such a hard time that I finally just quit. I did work on my GED for quite a while and did well on everything except the math, my worst subject. I couldn't get my score high enough to qualify for the actual test. At this point, I don't worry about it. I'm at the age that it isn't on my top 5 things to do and I have enough to handle with my home, Hubby and family. If the opportunity comes along for me to go ahead with it, I will but it's not something I'm chasing after. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND TRUST IN GOD** [twoey68]
