Do You Remember Your First Day At School

I remember my first day at school even though it was 48 years ago!! My mom and dad both went with me that first day of school. As soon as we found my class and went in my dad (being an Army man and wanting me to be tough) told me to go find a desk. I went to find a desk but never took my eyes off of my mom. The teacher, Ms. Law gave me a picture and some colors. I saw my mom and dad walk out of the room and jumped up running down the hall crying for my mom. She stayed with me most of the day. The teacher pulled her a desk by the door thinking that I would get interested in the activities but as soon as mom would sneak out I would run down the hall screaming for her again. I think she finally gave up and stayed that whole day with me. The next day was better and I did let her leave after about an hour. Luckily none of my Children were this bad on their first day of school.

Haha yes I remember my first day of school like it was yesterday. I remember standing at the bus stop with my mom and dad. I lived in Dallas, Texas at the time and it such a hot day. The bus was really late for some reason. I remember being really scared, but my dad told me it would be alright. The bus driver came and I waved good bye to them. It was a really weird feeling. I think my parents may even have video taped it lol. Good times. [elusivedarkness]
I was scared because I had never been left with anyone. My mother stayed home with us and since we were in the Army I had never had relatives close by to stay with. It was just part of being a child. Once I realized that I would go home at the end of the day I was fine. [slanderson52]

i can't remember my first day of my school as i am a child that time.but i think i was do the same as u.becoz all children do the same at their first day of school. thankyou. happy mylot day. [kavita23]

I remember my first day at school but only vaguely .... my mother took me there and i felt tears in my eyes as she left, I was too proud to cry or ask her to stay :) I can't remember how the rest of the day went but it was ok afterwards. [freesoul]
My mom and I still laugh about how I wouldn't let her leave and she had to sit in a little desk all day long! lol [slanderson52]

I remember my first day in school. I am very shy and I don't want my mother far away from me. The next day is more better because I know that my classmate is like me and my feeling is at home in my classroom. [Prince_Magma]

Yes, I remember my first day. It was 35-years ago and I still cringe at the thought! LOLOL I disliked school so very much! The teachers were extremely patient with me, but it didn't matter. I wanted to go home and draw....and that was all there was to it. I was so bad that I would kick anyone who got in my way....and I mean anyone! I also had this wonderful talent of making myself sick. Not only "run to the bathroom sick", but sick as in a fever and the works. I continued to dislike school until 10th grade. At this point, I was able to go half a day to a vocational school where I started training in art, design and the like. I would never go back to elementary school or middle school, even if someone paid me all the money in the world! [sohodmc]
I wish I had your talent to make myself sick! lol I could have convinced my mom to let me stay at home then. Great story! [slanderson52]

Well at least after a day you finally were able to adjust. Like your kids, I didnt have problems in staying in school on the first day without my mom. I have a twinsister that's why I am excited to be in a place where only my twin and I would be left for a couple of hours! She has the same reaction as mine and my mom and our maids were happy we didnt give them a hard time during that first day. [hikarushidou]
I did adjust quickly. My mom says if dad hadn't told me to go find a desk and had let her go with me I probably would not have been so scared, but who knows. It must be nice to have a twin sister to share things with. It does affect the moms more, I think, if the children cry on their first day of school. I was happy that mine didn't, but they were used to staying with other people since I worked. My mom stayed home with us and I think this is part of why I was so upset. I had hardly ever been left alone without one of my parents around. [slanderson52]

yes i remember my first day in school where i meet my very special friend. That is my first day in school during college days. Although we dont bcome girl friends and boy friends but still we became good friends untill now. I am glad i meet a man like that also i meet lot of girl friends and untill now they are my friends and they are honest and true to me. [hazeter]
It is great that you found good friends at school. [slanderson52]

i dont remember my first day in school but my memories in my school it is fresh to my mind that i dont like to tell to eveyone and i dont even have an idea to contribute it!!!because it has a sentimental value [exoticgirl]

I remember it quite clearly, that's because something unfortunate happened to me that day. First day as a nursery student. My mom along with my nanny sent me to school, they stayed outside along with the other parents and guardians that sent their children in for the first day of school. When everybody was inside the classroom, the teacher told the parents that they would have to wait outside and she closed the door. As she closed the door, children started crying and screaming for their mom and dad, then just like chain reaction, they started crying one by one until teh whole room was filled with crying children. The teacher decided to turn off the light and played the piano (lullaby) maybe with the intention to calm everybody down. But of course they never stopped, they were going all over the place screaming for their parents, so there was riot inside the classroom, I believe i was just standing where I was not knowing what to do when somebody bumped into me causing me to back up and and to maintain my balance I had to hold on to the table, but as I laid my hand on the table, it was wet and sticky! Figures, it was vomit. Somebody puked maybe because of crying too hard! By then, I started to cry! ahaha! Cause it was gross... [smints8985]
I think your first day was much more terrifying than mine. I can understand why everyone was crying. Gross is right!!! I would have hated to find my hand in someone elses vomit!! That is enough to make anyone cry. [slanderson52]

Yes, I still remember my first day at school. It happened 25 years back. Actually we moved to a new city in mumbai and my dad got admission for me in a reall big school. My school was nearly 15-20 min walkable distance. I was put in 1st std and my mom was with me on the first day. She thought she will come and pick me in the evening since the environment was new for me and i did not even know the roads completely. But in the evening i waited for my mom for some time and then started on my own. I just walked the same way i came to school. I reached home and seeing me my mom was so exicited and shocked. I managed to reach home safely on the first day itself. Still I remember my first day at school. It was really wonderful. Seems like just happened yesterday. Thanks for refreshing my nostalgia. :) [muralimn]
You are most welcome. I am glad you had a good experience on your first day and so brave to walk all the way home by yourself. [slanderson52]

Im now 21 and i can still remmember my first day at school. My mom is with me that day and when we found my classroom, i saw alot of Kids and my mom is talking with my class teacher. I saw alot of kids looking at me, We arrived late thats why alot saw me entering our room. I want my mom too to stay with me the whole day in school coz im scared thinking my mom will never get back and just leave me there. That day ran pretty smooth and thats the first day I met friends inside the classroom. We made lots of activities and i find myself totally participating. My teacher gave me 5stars for behaving well and for being snappy. [cuhkiz]
That was my fear too that my parents would leave me and not come back. I am glad your first day turned out well. We all finally realize that school can be fun. [slanderson52]

On my first day of school, do nothing, teacher given me sweets and i played the whole day, no studying till start of next week, then start study.............. [only4you99]

The most cherished and memorable day for me is my first day of school because I saw and met so many kids of my age. I was not a difficult child during my first day as a matter of fact, Iam so excited that day because I will be able to know different children other than my siblings. If you did not let your mother out of your sight, then we have a different situation. My mother is so protective that she wants to go inside the classroom to see how do I behave with the others. Luckily, the teachers did not permit her so I was kinda relieve.... 8) [MiLaw8]
It is always good when your first day is uneventful. [slanderson52]

Yes ofcourse i will necer forget the first day i went to the school... on that day i begged my father to get back me to home.. i will come on next day onwards.. i cried and from next day i have joined the school without any problems... [rose007]

No I don't remember anything. But I had started going to school really early, and I had felt that I had been going to school all my life until after my graduation. [timichan]

of course it was my very exciting days for the rest of mylife [najwan9]

Yah i remember my first day at school and it wasnt that exciting..I go there alone coz the school was just near to our house and my teacher was my aunt also. So im nothing to get afraid and shy of. Actually i love to stay there always coz i have many playmates not like in our house i am alone. [cachekitten]

I remember my my first day at school. my parents came with me to classroom and said bye, i went to my desk and started playing with my new friends. [kannimunni]

Yes I remember the first of my school. It was like I have entered into the new world. Everything was new for me and I was really scared. I was not crying as most of the children do but I was scared that how would be my first day here. [inflamation]

I remember my first day at school, it was 1966. I went to the first grade. I had not been to kindergarten because it wasn't mandatory. I played school all the time with the girls next door that were older than me. I walked to school with the girls next door. My mom had to stay with my brother and sister. The brought me to my class and said to meet them on the steps out front when school was over. Some kids were crying, some parents were there. Afte a while things settled down and the teacher went over the rules and we had snack. Milk was Free that day but was going to be .03 every day after. The teacher began asking questions. Testing us actually and dividing us into groups. I was in the smallest group..lol just 2 of us. We were the only ones that could read, write and I could do math. The teacher sent me home with a note. I thought I was going to be in big trouble. The other kids, older said I was probably kicked out of school. I got home and told my mother as I gave her the envelope "I didn't get in trouble so I'm not kicked out, their lying" She of course had no idea what I was talking about. The note was to ask permission for me to advance on my own as I was already ahead of most second grade students at this point. Ha, I didn't get in trouble, I got pizza and a new math book. It was a great day for me. [mari61960]
I enjoyed your response. I too did not have to go to kindergarten as it was not mandatory. I probably would have been better off if my mom and dad had let me go with my older brother! Your mom must have worked a lot with you at home for you to be so advanced. I am sure she was confident that you would do well she you were so well prepared. [slanderson52]

I remember my first day of school. My mom was all nervous because I'm the oldest, therefore it was especially hard to watch me be a big girl on my first day of kindergarten. Well, my mom was expecting me to be all teary-eyed and full of "mommy don't go" But what did I do? I took one look at all the new things in the classroom that i've never seen before, and when my eye fell on the cornor of the room where all the make believe clothes were and I saw the pretty sparkly princess dresses, I looked up at my mom and said "bye bye mommy" and ran off into the classroom without so much as a hug for my mom. I guess she was the one who ended up all teary-eyed. [PookyBrat]
I am sure she was probably the one all teary-eyed. I found it harder with my first child too. It was like she was no longer all mine. Glad you had a great first day! [slanderson52]

Yes, I too can remember my 1st day of school most vividly, even now after, 15 years ago. I don't think I will ever forget it. Pure Chaos! They had put us in a basement classroom; but, because I could see my mother's legs out the window, I was OK - until she left. She stayed for a long time - other kids were crying, screaming, a few actually trying to escape out the door and being dragged back in and becoming hysterical. When I saw my mother walking away, I dragged a chair to the window, got on it and starting jumping, trying to reach the window and crawl out I guess, yelling for my mother not to leave me! When I was pulled off the chair, I ran for the door; but I too was dragged back in. There were 2 or 3 nuns running around, trying to control us. I can still see their faces, and the other kids, so clearly. By the time they had us all in seats and finally under control, most of us still sniffling and crying, I remember looking back at the windows ... and THERE WERE MY MOTHER'S LEGS AGAIN!. She had heard me and come back. I was OK again.I feel a little ashamed thinking of it now but hope most of us did the same in his/her first day at school.. [Spid4r]
Nothing to be ashamed of. A lot of us felt anxiety that first day seeing our parents leave us in a strange place. I can't believe you recognized you mother by her legs. That is awesome. [slanderson52]

i don't remember my first day at school i just remember i cry when my mother leave me after that in the next day my mother waiting until the bell ring.lol [binong]

i do remember first dayof my school.my mom taks me to the school n i was ccrying lik she is carrying me to the hell.my mom told to me that i was crying for whole day of my first day.thn she gav me two or three choclate thn i stoped crying.well that was realya bad start of my school days.i never likto attend lectures .i think the sam thing i do in coleg i go to coleg daily but i hardly attend any lectures. [ankit_kasat]

I am not remember my first day of first school but i remember my first day of second school. i felt very afraid on the first day of my school. i didn't know any student in the school and i am felt very lonely at that time. [rishi_friend]

no,i don't remember my first day of school because i not remember that day. [ankit_taran]

hi there, well its really nice to know that you can still remember your first day in school..., that's really great.. mine, i really could'nt remember, the frst day of schooling itself. But i have some clear thoughts when i was going on our school on a day to day basis, the friends i met back then, where we usually hang out together, the parades that we participated into, programs that ive been to, stuff like that. thanks a bunch^_^ [Sheeniepie]
Your welcome. I think most of us, even though our first days may have been bad, do have fond memories of our school years. [slanderson52]

I remember crying my little heart and eyes out as my Mum just sneaked out without telling me. That was nearly 46 years ago. It was the most horrible time of my life. I ran through the school looking for my brothers and sisters only to be dragged back to my class. [serene2]
Isn't that such a lonely feeling. I felt that same fright every time my mom tried to leave that first day. [slanderson52]

well i don't remember my forst day at school but i do remember almost everyday of my 10th grade in school!!!! [prashanth_vv]

The first day of my schooling is still remembered, not just by me but by nearly 25 families around our locality. I really created so much of a mess and everyone was put on search to find me on that day!!! Actually I kept on screaming on that day, right from the moment my parents had left me there. And I remember it was a rainy day. During break, I just sneeked out and started for a journey to my home. The gatekeeper was inside the building as there was no shelter for him at the gate. So all was set for a great and agonizing day for the gatekeeper (He really got a nice scolding and eventually a shade was built for him later on!) So there I was on my return journey to home but I just lost my way (It had to be that way as my home was around 2 km away from school!!) Fortunately for me one of my known relatives found me roaming around on the road and he took me to my home. By then already 4 hours had passed by! My parents had searched for me at the school and around! I really got some deserved beating on that day. Even all the families around got collected at our residence and there was a great scene!! I really enjoyed presenting to you all this. It was like going back to my old days. I am 27 now! I don't know what would have happened to me, if I had not been found on that day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [abhiquest]
That was definitely a scary day for you and your parents. I am glad they found you also. [slanderson52]

It was also not too cool when I remember my first day in the school, because I disturb my mum the way you did, though I was my mummy's pet but I don't even know why I keep disturbing her but after sometimes of growing up I stop disturbing and my new born baby who is my younger sister start to disturb my mum. Now that am not married and also haven't give birth to child, I don't what my children will do to me or my wife. [Phemzy]
We never know what is in store for us when we have children. They can sometimes really suprise us with their actions. [slanderson52]

Hmm I can remember the first day in grade school but I can't remember anything when I was in kindergarten, I can even remember the dress I wore which part of the room I sat and that the desk was scarred and the paint was peeling some shade of very light blue or was it just faded?. Its funny how I can remember even the little details in some days and none at all for the other days. [hazelle]
It is funny how we can remember little details and then nothing about other things. I can't believe you remember the dress you wore. I don't remember that particular day what I wore. [slanderson52]

I remember my first day in school.I was calm and happy till my mom left me and went back home. I was very sad but was not crying that much at school. those memories will stay for ever in our hearts. thanks, you reminded me of some old memorable moments of my life. [blackmagician]
You are very welcome. I like to go back sometimes to see just how much I can remember. [slanderson52]

No i dont remember i was very small at that time. [naman95]

My first day of school was one of my big accomplishments. I started out in a big school with lots of students and since my mom was still working that time, she was not able to wait up for me until that day ended. Separation anxiety? Maybe I had that for an instant but when I saw about five more kids who looked more anxious than I am, I sat with them and talked them into not being scared anymore. I guess early on, I've always been the Miss Congeniality that I am until today. [iamdeejhay]
It is great that you relieved your anxiety by helping others. Good job! [slanderson52]

vow! what a great day that day was. me now at my 45 , just recalling the first day of my school after your discussion and it sounds nice to even think over about that day . i still remember that day . i had been to school with my papa and my uncle . my uncle was discussing with the ehadmaster while my dad was asking me to or just telling me to be quite as i started doing some mischiefs., and later my father got angry and shouted me , it was the principal of the school who escaped me from my dad and he took me in his arm and consoled my [parents. thanks for remining the golden days [runsgame]
You are very welcome, glad I was able to do that for you. I love remembering things like that and am glad I still can. There will probably be a day when I am much older that I won't be able to remember as well. [slanderson52]

oh dear... i ran awar outside the gate of scholl... and i start crying in between the road... and then my teachers try to stop me by giving some candys [ricky1209]
I see your first day was also scary. Seems like a lot of schools used candy to soothe the scared children! [slanderson52]

Neither my mother nor my father accompanied me during my first day of school since kindergarten. My school then was just 50 meters away from our house and I always walk on my way there. As young as that, we were left on our own. I never cried on my first days in school. Yes, you would somehow envy your classmates because they have their mothers with them, bringing them foods and all that. But you know, looking back, I appreciate the way my parents brought us up because we have grown to be a very independent individual, and full of self-esteem. [Shebang]
That is great that you can realize your parents actions were for a good reason. [slanderson52]

not exactly the frist day i went to school...but dfinitely when i went to my new school when i was in senior kg...when i was just 7 yrs old... Tthat day i went to the school ina very cool manner but as soon as i approaced the gate of my school i started crying like anything but was convinced by my parents soon and there i was....... [prashantbhargav]

i was only 2 when my folks got me admitted to pre-school! i dont remember my first day but i was told that it didnt go down so smoothly! i was a handful verbally threatening teachers (yes at aged 2)! but i did settle down after a few days! [destroyer]
Sounds like you were a little destroyer even then. That is too funny! I have a grandson who is very much like that. My mother made him a blanket out of some Cars material from the new movie Cars. He takes it to daycare to sleep with on his cot. They make their cots and then go to lunch and come back to lay down. When he came back to his cot the other day another little boy was on his cot with his favorite blanket so he just head-butted him off. Needless to say he got in trouble at school and at home. [slanderson52]

lol yeah i remember my first day. when i was little i had buck teeth and BIG ears. i looked like such a goof, and my mom had to take pictures because shes one of them people. our front yard was all dirt because we were gettin it all landscaped with new plants and what not. so when i made it to school i was told that i had dirt all over my back. i guess the wind was blowing so the dirt from my front yard got all over my back, in my hair and in my new backpack...so i went home. great story huh? lol [dirtpoorboy]
That is a great story. Don't you just hate it when they start that picture taking, but I am guilty of doing the same thing myself. We always want to save those memories. [slanderson52]

Yes i remember like yesterday.I was really in tensed .i dont kno what was going to happend.I cried a lot that day .But my mother was standing ouyside the class room. [noushars]
What would we do without our moms. [slanderson52]

Haha still remember that day. I shouldn't be on that first grade class as I'm a year younger, but because my father was one of the teacher there, I was able to sneak in. Everybody was bigger and older than. I think the only word that I've said that time was just my name and nothing else [noditski]

in a vague kind of way i do..i wasnt one of the kids who cried and asked for my parents...i loved every minute,i think my parents had to drag me away from there !! so many Toys and so many friends...i was wearin a neat uniform (grey) and i just couldnt wait to get started ! wht i remember most is the fact tht there were so many kids around me..all my age,no adults !! [rohitnair13]
That was a good way to look at it. [slanderson52]

i cry hahahaha.. my first time at school i was crying, i scare to be far from my mom, i cry very loud and my teacher is confuse to handle it, they try to strain me to stop crying. its been almost 2 week i cry every day, if my mom leave me in school. if i think it now, it make me laugh :P [rurita]
It is funny now but sure was not back then! [slanderson52]

i couldn't graphically remember my first day in school. i just remember tagging along with my sister because i wasn't quite ready for school yet at that time. but i loved being in school, and wouldn't go home, so i was allowed to sit in my sister's classes and we became classmates for a while. just for a little while, though, because, eventually, i couldn't cope with the lessons, so i had to stay behind while my sister moved to a higher level. [toonatoons]

yes i do ,i remember it with my dad [ezzrssi]

Yes, I remenber my first day at school. I was 6 years old and my teacher gave us a paper sheet where we copied some letters. [Sergio_Oliveira]

it was raining that day. My aunt took me to school and left me with a horid looking old lady. She wasn't very nice, in fact she's been on my case the whole day, go to the corner, stand at the back of the room etc. The day ended with me taking a bite at her hand and running back home. I was transfered to a different school after that. [emo_shun]
That was a horrible day all around including the weather and a mean old teacher! I probably would have tried to bite her too. [slanderson52]

Ya..i remember here now...It was 16 years old...i gone to my first day scholl with my aunty...my father was busy at work, so he wasn't came to school and my mother was not in my place, she was in relation house...I cried loudly and i lick my lips myself and still i have this sometimes....it continues for somedays and after that i gone to school regularly and i secured 3rd position at last of my primary education...i never forgot my school days with lots of joyness and small of sorrowness.. [sureshmoe]

sorry i cant remember im too young at that time [sundaecone]

I DONT REALLY KNOW, BUT FOR SURE I REMEMBER MY LAST DAY AT SCHOOL AS IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS OF MY LIFE, FAREWELL WAS VERY HAPPENING BUT AT THE SAME TIME EVERYONE WAS VERY SCARED ABOUT THE FORTH COMMING LIFE [stutiaquarian]

LOL, I remember my first day of school very well. I went with my parents and to me it was just like dressing up in some strange costume (Uniform) and to visit an amusent park(School) where we get to play with clay. But then when my parents left, I cried like hell for like half an hour and I was sure glad to be back home but yeah to be honest, My parents had one hell of a job trying to convince me to go to school the next day. [vampirestonez]
I bet they did!! How dare them to trick us that way and make us believe we are going to some amusement park!!!lol [slanderson52]

yeah i remember. When was happen, i did not have my chair. It was so full. Then i sit on my teacher's chair. Untill now, my friend from elementary school call me, Pak Guru, that mean Mr. Teacher. [kostar07]

I will never forget my first day experience at school. i think it was 1990 then when i first entered my school. I almost cried when I entered the room and saw my classmates. I felt like I wanna go home and never wanted to go back at school anymore. I was very scared to our teacher. I was teary eyed then. But when I was able to make friends, I enjoyed every schoold activities that we had. I even enjoyed making my school assignments and I even liked writing and drawing. [gorgeousdreamer]

My first day was so great. I lived just a couple houses away from the bus stop. I had my two big brothers there to protect me, and I saw a lot of my friends. I had a necklace sign saying what class I belonged in and what bus number I rode. My brothers made sure I got off the bus at the right school, they took me to the front of the bus, hugged and kissed me good bye, then sent me on my way with my best friend Luke. The teacher was Mrs. Milz, one of the greatest ladies in the world (to this day, I keep in touch with her, she was even at my wedding!). We sat next to whoever we wanted at one of the color tables (the color of the box in the middle was the color the table was). She gave us crayons and a picture. I sat next to Luke for almost the whole year because anytime she took me away from him, one or both of us would get into trouble. [proudnavywife]
That is a great story. I can't believe you still keep in touch with your teacher. Would have liked to do that by my father was in the Army so we traveled a lot and lost touch with a lot of teachers and friends. [slanderson52]

yes i remember my first day and i just cried i did not want to go. my mama had to stay with me for a while.it took me a while to get to where i liked it.you sound like me .i was a mama girl i was always with with my mama so i no that is why i was like i was. i was very bashfull. my sister promised me that if i got scare she would come to my room at school.her teacher said she would let her. [suzzylady]
You are right. Sounds like we have pretty much the same experience. They did the same with my brother and I think that is why I did better the next day. I remember now they let him come during his lunch time to see me. [slanderson52]

Well I can't remember the first day , but I can tell you about my first day in school in the US. I was 13, did not know any English, I was too afraid to interact with other kids, sat alone in lunch tables. Impatient teachers, it was a horrible experience! [abbey992]
That can be really hard. I can relate to the language barrier because when we were stationed in Germany we went out to the local shops a lot. I found it very frustrating to try to communicate with them and I am sure they felt the same way. Eventually we learned enough of the language to manage out on the economy. [slanderson52]

I can't recall my first day at school. But I can remeber a few things about kindergarten. This was the only preschool in the those days. It was 1955, I think. I can recall the small schoolhouse and that they were adding a wing onto it. I went to a Catholic grade school and have many memories of the nuns. If they could do today what they did back then, they would be crucified by the public along the streets. But it was tough discipline, something lacking in today's environment. [sigma77]
Yes I have heard that the nuns could be very tough, but you are right we lack this dicipline today and I think it has made an impact on how children cope with life compared to years ago. [slanderson52]

Actually i dont remember my first day at school that well but i remember a small incident that took place on that day - when i entered the classroom i found that everyone was crying for their parents except me because my parents had sent me prepared for it n during the incident while others were eating their tiffins i just kept staring at them without bothering bout mine. [jmdace]
That was very smart of your parents to prepare you for this. [slanderson52]

This is interesting story, really touch me. This also remember me when i first time at primary school. It was 15 years ago. That's very nice when the first time i knew school, i met with a lot of friend. If i have chance to feel back , i would like to do it. [crystal2005]
I am glad you had a good experience with your first day. [slanderson52]

Yes i remember my first school-day.. Thats not very rare since im just 16 years old :D It actually was the first day 6 year old children started at school here in norway! And i remember that i was late when we where going to go inside for a lesson after the first brake :P [Sonikk]

i dont rememebr it but i remember the feeling... wow... it was great.... curiosity mixed with doubt... old frind and new friend... i miss that now... [giaggio]

Our classroom was on the ground floor and my seat was next to the window. My grandmother had escorted me to the class. I was scared and only five years old...I just jumped out of the window and quickly joined my grandma while she was going home. Today I am 57 and I miss both my convent school and my dear grandma. [gfsunder]

i dont have remember the first day of my school. my first day of my school when i was 4 year old. yaa i have remeber 1st day of my high school & college. after all those days were beautyfull but i never turn towards back. thats my past. i always moves on my present for future. [richajeet143]

i do remember the day.It was a nice day.. and my parents came with me and stayed in the class in the few rows which where allocated for them to watch. My frinds were none on the first day and the teacher who came on the first day was a kind lady.Though i don't remeber whether she taught anyhting i just remember the smile on her face. [andrewswthrt]

I remember my frist day at school. It was a well remember day in my memory. It was a monday in junery. On that day i was awakened by my mother 6.30am in the morning fristly. My face washed by my mother.and my prepard tea for me and i had it.Then mother prepard milk rice and i was ped by mother.I worn my new school uniform. Then on that ocasion.I knelt down in frount of my mother and father. Then mother blest me finally i got my books and i diparture with my mother. We went to the school on foot.My school was situated half a mile from my place. Mother and me antered in to a class. There were meney new students with a teacher.I felt like a fish out of water. The teacher how was in the class got my name to the regestration and i worshiped to the teacher. The large ground and halls and the fresh stident gave me a some what plasure with afraid. [Dil1983]

I remember my mom took me to school that day. I was so excited. I think my kindergarten teacher had it out for me though. My parents got one of those supply lists from the school and went out and bought everything on it. When we got home, mom wrote my name on all my items and we found that the purple crayon in the crayon box was broken. Mom said it didn't matter, i could use the crayon anyway. When I got to school that day the teacher made us Pool all our crayons into a container that sat in the middle of our assigned tables. Later while coloring I happened to grab my broken purple crayon. The teacher saw me coloring and said out loud, "You broke the crayon". I tried to explain and she grabbed me by the arm and took me across the room and made me sit in the corner. I didn't even do anything! [calico79]
I don't think she should have been teaching. If she didn't see you break it how could she accuse you of it. Colors break very easily anyway. Oh well, the experiences we have had with teachers is even another topic. [slanderson52]

no i dont remember first day at school very bad at remembering things [mdzafaruddin]

I am not remember while i was schooling.... [jamanrk786]

i dun remember my first day at school almost 15 years back!! but i know that i would have wept a great deal:) [pioneergladiator1]

During my first day at school was very silent!...I feel intimidated because i dont know yet my classmates!...I dont know what to do!...I just sit all alone and just listening to our teachers...I feel so shy and helpless because most of my classmates knows each other!...They passes nursery thats the reason why!...Me, i didnt experienced enrolled in a nursery school or the pre-education/prep!...lolz [blacknight000]

no i dont remember anything. i was just 3 years old then. so i dont remember. but definitely i would have cried a lot. [cuterose]

i remember my first day at school and its rainning morning, my shoes very very dirty and every kids steering at me! iam so shine and i took a desk at the corner of class im alone until that day is over. [ndukdiva]

Yes itīs not that far ahead then yourīs, it was in 1976 so still over 30 years back. The most i remember is our female teacher, she was very young that time and some of the class mates. Also that we all went to church on that day, i still have a picture of that day. [Lewah69]
Oh the pictures. Priceless aren't they. [slanderson52]

really i dont remmeber but i dont think it was a main event in my life... [rexisbest]

i loved reading your story.very nice.well i remember my first day at school:my mom took me and let me in the classroom with all that children and the teacher.the windows were closed and it made me sick and when i left the room i vomi**d on my shoes.a men came and insisted to take us a picture to mark my first day of school.i have the picture.awful [andre3a]

yeah i can still remeber it,.i was really crying out loud by that time coz my mom leave me in school,..but now i cluldnt figure out that im actually in college now,..coz its still fresh in my mind.. [danielcatastrophy22]

Aw! It was really sweet of your mother to stay with you on your first day. I'm glad that you were able to let go more after that. It can be so hard being away from our parents for the first time :/ I don't actually remember my very first day at school. Unfortunately, the bad memories stick with us more than the good, especially when we're talking about trying to remember back that far, and the two main memories I have from kindergarten aren't positive. One was being chased around the classroom by two bullies who had pins (not pens, pins) and were trying to stick me with them. I don't know where they got the pins. The other was being slapped (I know, in this day and age she probably would have been fired) by the teacher one day just because I was alittle late Cleaning up my area when we were doing art because I was so into it. (I loved art when I was a kid, I used to draw a lot) I still don't undersatnd that, either, because I was always a good kid, never was loud or got in trouble, in fact I was shy, so it was really weird that she got so angry with me for one little thing. I also remember one other thing, and that was that I had already learned to read well before kindergarten because I loved reading after my parents started reading to me, so the lessons about learning the alphabet were all really old hat to me and boring. I remember just kind of waiting for that part to be over with. LOL ^_^ [shywolf]
That is really awful that you were slapped by your teacher. You are so right. She would have been fired if this happened today. It is a shame that teachers who are suppose to make school a positive experience sometimes make it such a negative one for some. I know we have some really great teachers but always those few again who give it a bad wrap. It is great that you could read before kindergarten. My son was the same way. My mother-in-law was a teacher years before and when she started keeping my children while I worked she read to them constantly and worked with my youngest who was not in school then. He was reading 7th grade level by the time he was in the 3rd grade and it was all due to her dilgence in teaching him and reading to him. He still loves to read today and he is 25 years old. That is okay about the junk. I think they took the system down for upgrade probably about the time you sent this. Thanks for responding. [slanderson52]

Yes, I do remember. Unfortunately I don't remember it for a good reason and it was a little similar to your experience. I didn't go to kindergarten. My first day of school was the first day of first grade. There was a little girl there who couldn't stop crying when her mother left. I was feeling the same but I didn't cry. The teacher locked the little girl in a cloakroom for crying and I could hear her in the background still crying. We did little pages of ones and the teacher gave us little paper stars at the top of the pages. In my haste to get out of there, I lost my little page. My mother noticed the other little kids handing their pages to their mothers after school and asked where mine was. I forget what I told her but I was TERIIFIED that she'd go to that teacher and I'd get locked in that cloakroom the next day for losing my little page of ones. It didn't happen and we moved shortly after. I was sent to a new, very nice school that I loved but I never forgot that first day. [irisheyes]
What a horrible first day. I can't believe the teacher locked the little girl in the cloakroom. I wonder if the little girl told her parents and if the teacher was confronted for doing that. At least you left shortly after and went to a better school. Thanks for responding. [slanderson52]

yes i still remember my first day at school. i did not understand where i was heading to with my mom. but when the time came wherein she had to leave me and my teacher was taking me inside i started crying and made alot of fuss. finally they had to allow my mom to come in with me and be beside me till the school ended. this continued for a few days when finally i was ok to be without my mommy, that is,after i made a few friends of my age [Tanushree4444]
I am glad to know that I was not the only one who threw a fit when my mother left. I think probably back then there were more of us who had stay-at-home moms and it made it harder for us to have our mothers leave us. [slanderson52]

I can remember my first day at school yet, i was very nervious and i tried to back with my mother at home though i couldnot, in the other hand, the first day was very good for me, there i could to know some good friends and my first teachers, its a special day that always i will remember it with good and bad things, though i prefeer remember only the good, have a nice day on mylot and happy earnings also. [blanksolid]

you have a good memory. You remember your first day of school even after 48 years great.I don't remember any thing.I don't even remember what happend on the last day of my school. [sahyd2don]
Like someone else said, we tend to remember the bad things more than the good ones. [slanderson52]

It was most memorable in my life, on that day i was so fear and i cried also my mom came along with me upto our school gate after day by day really i enjoyed to go for school. thanks for remembering my childhood days. [KrishnaVeera]

I remember my first day of school, my parents drove me to school that day and when they took me to my teacher i started crying because i didnt want them to go and i was scared. LOL but after the first day i was eager to go to school. :) http://www.swatcash.com/2787 [gboykey]

I still remember the first day at school even though that was such a long time ago. I would always be so scared because my parents would just drop me off and leave me there like I know where to go and what to do. It was a horrible time. Those days were not good memories. But at the end of the day I guess I pretty much made it. Until the next time. [sahmlaely]

I can't remember it anymore. But it is a mixed emotion by not being to your dad and mom for the first time is kinda scary but as we grow older and meet different people, school is a great place to be with. [mchlgryn]

I have a picture of me on my first day of school that helps me to remember it. I went on a bus with a name tag on a string around my neck and my teacher was really nice. I had no problems and liked school after the first day [brightbluesea]

i remember going to pre-school and crying running after my dad. did this for a few weeks. one time it was raining and the teach was holding me back. i was so terrified because i was so shy and i had been at home with my dad for so long. i was always so happy when my dad picked me up again. i didn't have much friends (at least not that much) and didn't like it all that much. i also remember being teased by boys...how normal and using the bathroom in groups. thats about it. but i'm starting to dread my kids going to school for the first time. i don't know who's going to take it worse, me or them, since they're so happy when they leave me, espeically if there are other kids there. [emarie]
For me it was harder on me. I only had one that cried and that was my last child, but only for a couple of days. [slanderson52]

No. I do not remember my first day at school. [workfromhome]

Yes, I remember it very clearly. I was crying and there were so many strange kids and people around me. [gbspew]
Everything was strange...lol Thanks for responding. [slanderson52]

Yes I do my first day of school was awful I cryed all day ,then to make it worst I got sick on the bus on the way home from school and had to miss the next couple of days from school and when I went back to school it was like the first day all over again, and for everyone else they were use to school by then ..... [Termite911728]
That was no fun....I wouldn't have wanted to to start that first day all over again! Thanks for responding. [slanderson52]

u really do ............thats good. i think no one remembers their first day of the school. may be u have to be told by ur parents about it when u grow. now-a-days u have cams, so u can just record the first time when ur child gose to school and then show it to them when they grow. [rapolu_cs]

My first day at school was not that great but obcourse its very memorable because it is the very first time i will new friends and the first time i will left home! I remember back then, I cried to my mom not to leave me until the lessons were finished. But on the following day it doesn't go that way any anymore because my mom have to go to work and our house was only few blocks away from our school. [Fiona_princess]

yes ,i remember my first day in school(20 years ago).i can't forgot my school days.i am alway remember my childwood [praveen32]

Yeah I remember it. Even before I was supposed to start my kindergarten, I was always asking my mom when I can go to school, because my friend are a year older than me, so they are already started school. because of it, my mom let me go to school with them, just to see what its about and wether I enjoy it. turns out that I enjoy it very much, I got heaps of friends, my mom just wait there in front of the class and left me after a while. When it really is my time to really enrolled and go to school, I was soooo excited I couldnt wait. Unfortunately, I wasnt that eager on studying as I reached my teenage years hehehe [babydolphin]
Yes, somehow the excitment wears off when we realized that we had to do class work and homework. Thanks for responding. [slanderson52]

I also face the same experience. When i think it back, so many funny thing happen there. The first day i was really scared. Just my parent can make me calm.haha, such a good memories. [kent_potat]

yes,i do.The memory is still fresh in mind.AS if it just happened.haha.My 1st day of school was really fun. That particular day was really enjoyable because i meet alot of good friends there.Though many of the newcomer are crybabies..haha.i never shed a tear. [Zhanec]
Good for you! Thanks for responding. [slanderson52]

If i remember my first day at school, i'll be laugh. That's very funny. It was 20 years ago. my mom and dad both went with me to my school, but only my mom awaiting me. I did not want to come into my class. I only see my teacher and my friends from outside the class, and for the same time i don not stop to weep [sapa_yah]

yup its long long time ago when i was child at little school thank you [mr_ilham]

I come in first day of school,It was 38 years ago!My mom take me to come in school.I am very vague. My teacher is women.Signing up site under tree. This is a huge eucalypt.I remember very clear, till today. [seabreeze]

i remember my first day at school. it was a primary school. my mom took me their and my class teacher entered my name in the class register. she asked me to sit in a small chair. my mom thanked her and left. i was very lonely at first. then i began to talk to the child next to me. the child sitting near became my best friend. :D [unpretty14]

I can vaguely recall a few things from my first day of school. I mostly remember a large number of other people and how how much I paniced the whole day. [kataztrophy]

I remember not the first day at school but the days when I was already in my second grade. I think it is worth mentioning here because it is an unforettable experience. I went to school even when there was a typhoon currently hitting our area. At the middle of the classes, the typhoon become much worse and we all got afraid. It is a good thing the mother arrived to fetch me. [ernst111]

I really remmmber my first day at school. I went to school with my dad, he was a teacher. After playing under the flag post, I took off my new shoes, I stood and played, at last I walked home with the bare feet. I thought I only left my shoes there. I couldn't find them back. I have relized that I have overjoyed too much. [phon4u]

Yup, when the first day in kindergarten. I remember I didnīt want to go to sit with the other kids. I just kept standing beside my teacher, holding her skirt. (she was my neighbour) It was quiet shocking to me, the first time to see how many kids, that Iīve never seen before. thats why I kept myself right beside the only person I recognized (the teacher). I remember that very well...:-) May FUN be with you. [kopitalisme]

LOL...All that i really remember about my first trips to school is how shy and small i felt. I was nervous and i wouldn't speak to anyone!!! [ronita34]
