Usually while wandering around here on myLot, I watch the interests with the pretty pictures go by up there near the top of the page.
Well today, I've watched the interest "High School" go by like 3 times and it got me thinking.......Why do I even have that as an interest???
I mean it's not like I had any interest in high school other than to go hook up with my friends, ditch school, party all day, and get into all kinds of trouble.
Heck........the last time I was even in high school was like 1979.....I just wasn't into it and hardly ever went at all.
Not surprisingly I didn't even pass the 11th grade because of so much missed time so I had to repeat it and they sent me to continuation school to do it.
If you don't know what continuation school is, it's where they send all the trouble maker kids, they give you like third grade work sheets to do at your own pace, they let you smoke on campus, you only go for like 3 hours a day, and did I mention.....THEY THROW YOU.....A TROUBLE MAKER.....IN WITH A WHOLE SCHOOL FULL OF OTHER TROUBLE MAKERS!!!!
It's like holding sex addict meetings at the adult book store.
It's pretty much your last chance at school........I dropped out and went on with life.
When I was 30 years old, I got my GED.........they told me to plan to come back over a 2 day period........I took the entire test in about 3 hours and only missed one question.
Anyways........to get to the point of this discussion.........do you have any interests that make you go "I wonder what I was thinking when I picked that interest"

I wonder why people post discussions under certain interests because I may have been interested in the discussion, but that doesn't mean I want to add 'brother' or 'grandma' or 'eco-conscious' to my list of interests or hobbies. I mean I am still struggling with the idea that I actually added both politics and religion, because I really dislike both of those, they are NOT interests NOR hobbies, and as we've determined previously, I am not a boy so I can't be a brother, and my daughter is too young for me to be a grandma.... I do HAVE a brother and a grandma, so I guess maybe you can relate your interests any way you like. As far as the school thing, that's interesting. I can still relate in some ways to school, but not on every level. It hasn't been as long for me as it has for you, but it SEEMS as long lol. Unlike you though, I did pretty well in school, I wasn't a troublemaker, and when I did begin doing things, I never got caught due to my squeaky clean reputation and the fact that I was 18 but I looked like I was 12.... I've got a couple I joined simply because I was heavily involved in ONE discussion in the interest and got tired of "do you want to add 'licking the steak to death because you are hungry and tired of waiting for it to thaw out and the microwave is broken because it shorted out from the roaches infesting it' to your list of interests?" appearing every time I commented... Bleh. I hated high school too, bear. I guess I think differently than a lot of people here. I don't view mylot interests as interests that I'm interested in, but rather as simple discussion topics. So, I accept unfitting interests such as, "brother," "mother, and "I am a toaster oven" to my interests section because I guess I never know when I'll start a discussion about such things. lol. I had the feeling you were a trouble-maker in your youth, bear..How? Cause you are now as well..just a different type is all. raspIt could be possible you were just too intelligent for that type of learning which could be why you found school so boring? Not everyone learns at the same level OR in the same way. You know, I used to have a lot of interests on my old account just because I got tired of seeing "do you want to add" every time I responded so I would add them to not get the message! I know the deal with high school. Our continuation school was called in school suspension and pretty much a waste of time. I left before the end of 10th grade, joined the Army and had not only my GED and two years of college but certified as a helicopter mechanic before I finally graduated high school by going to night school. I guess I did it backwards huh! LOL [SKWrites]
