Well guys.....I finally got enrolled in classes at the community college. Im going for a certificate in office technology and then after I finish that one, Im starting for a CNA license. I decided to do both because that way, there will always be SOMETHING for me to do...there will always be job openings in one or the other. Do you think this is a good way of thinking or should I just extend my studies in one or the other?

It's always good to have options, or something on the back burner, so to speak. I agree that it is good you are going in two different directions. That way you will have choices and a better edge on getting a job once you are all finished with everything. Good luck to you!! [Lillith]
I think in this age of competitive, cut throat competition, one needs more than an academic degree to get through in life. i think you are thinking in the right path by going for the job skills be it office technology and CNA license. I think you should get your priorties right and balance your schedule in a way so that your studies don't suffer and get through. But focus not only to get certificates in the office tech, CNA but also to learn and master them. i think you also find out the job market in these fields aand what's pay scale like and future of these jobs and projected growth of these fields and how much you might earn and how much interest you have in them. and them get some job experience too that will help. Good for you! An education is something you can never have too much of and I think office technology will be helpful for whatever job you are aiming for in the future. There are not many jobs today that don't require computer knowledge and some office skills and it can also come in handy at home. I have to admit that I have no idea what a CNA license is so I can't comment on that one but agree that it's wise not to put all your eggs in the same basket. Good luck with your studies! [isasice]
I have been busy with work and not spending much time on here lately. [isasice]
NO NO its a good approach but you got to remember doing this will also require a lot of work..the road might be bumpy but the end of the trip you will c a beautiful garden...with your approach you will have more opportunities than others...!! MY BEST WISHES ARE WITH YOU... [rash219]
Good for you! Once you get your CNA you can work and in many places they will pay for you to continue your education and you can go even further. You probably should decide which career will be more lucrative for you. If you have an interest in health field, there are many jobs to be had and they pay well if you have the education. that's a good start for you. if you get your cna then go for your rn cause you can make some good money being a nurse. i dont know exactly what office technology intails as far as job options but it's good anyways. cause you can learn something new and have a degree. it looks good on resumes or job applications. i think it is a good way of thinking and do what you feel you should do with your studies. if you want to work at a hospital full time then go for cna/rn. if you want to work in an office full time then go for that. but i think both would help you a lot.
