Not just for the students but for the teachers and all school workers as well...
Do you think this sort of thing is what we need to ensure that our kids are not studying with or being taught by a drug user... or will the boundary of human rights be crossed if this sort of thing is to be implemented...

responses and comments:
yes, definitely so that we would know how to help them and prevent drug addiction in schools. [jesbellaine]
It sure can help in identifying who the users are... and this can lead to the apprehension of the pushers... but some people are oppose to this since they say it violates the human rights of the students... and workers of the school... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Yes, it's most definitely appropriate. I think all schools would benefit from it. And yes for not just the students but the teachers and other workers, no one it seems is above using drugs anymore. Sometimes it's the ones you least expect that you find out are using them. [valerie37]
I agree with you... sometimes those who we least expect it... are the ones who are into it... and sometimes... they are even the ones who sell... sadly... even the places that we think our kids are safe... they no longer are... and we need to take the extra measure just to keep it safe... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Human rights are important, but the flat out truth is we need to do something for the safety of the students and the teachers and other school workers. Teachers should not have to pull drugs off of students in the classroom. They should not have to deal with students answering their mobile Phones out loud right in class and arranging sales of drugs right there on school property. Teachers and serious students should not have to put up with zonked out students coming to class stoned and acting crazy. Right now there are many rules protecting the drug users, but few protecting the other students and staff. I loved teaching and hated to retire but honestly, I never felt safe a single day in the last 4 or 5 years of teaching. Something needs to be done. [drannhh]
Oh my... outside intervention should indeed be done if the administrators and even the teachers are at the core of the problem... it is so sad that some people tend to abuse and influence they have on students... [aseretdd]
I have not gic=ven it a idea. may be for senior students it can work. still i think drug users have right for education,. may be they can be tried for rehabitation. [subha12]
Drug users have the right to education... no doubt about that... but the best way to help them is not to ignore the problem... but to do something before it is too late for them and their classmates... rehabilitation is the best way to help them... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I guess it will be ok as long as there should be permission from the administration. I have heard school who are doing that and in most cases they do it un announce to the students! Then, they got like 5 who were positive and they were called for conference and parents were informed too! [checapricorn]
Yes... all the drug test should be unannounced... there are other ways to fake such a test... especially when kids are prepared... [aseretdd]
i thhink it is now that there are even high school students who use grugs! the proper way to protect the kids in school is to assign a spy among them to know who is using drugs. I do not think human rights is an issue here but rather the safety of our kids in that school. [everlasting]
So you also agree that a drug test should be conducted among students and all those who work in the school... even the administration... we can never be too sure when i comes to the safety of our children... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
With the drugs in the world today I feel that it is very wise to drug test students as well as teachers. Some middle school kids are already doing drugs. [jrsmith]
Yes, i heard something about kids as young as 13 already doing drugs... and the parents are unaware of this... so the best way is to have them tested in their own school... this might help solve the growing problem of teenage drug addiction... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
It is more than appropriate to conduct drug testing in any profession really especially when it involves children or the medical profession. We have to safeguard people from drug users working in professions that they have no business being in. Some consider it an invasion of privacy but I believe those are the ones that are actually doing drugs. [skinnychick]
Drug addiction is quite rampant around the globe... so extreme measures should be taken to protect ourselves... and to save the user... i don't think it is a case of invasion of privacy... since the welfare of society is at stake... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Teachers, yes without a doudt! I worked for Wendy's and they made us take drug tests. If you are responcible for educating young children there better not be any drugs in your system! Regarding the children themselves, I thnk if they are in sports yes because there are problems with them in that area. I don't think every child should be tested. But if there is a strong suspcion (say the child is have massive problems in school) then with parental consent I see nothing wrong with it. [liperoterachel]
A lot of companies now require their workers to undergo a drug test every six month just to be sure than no one is using... and teachers should not be exempted from this... there is a need for us to protect our children from drug abuse... so it is never hurts to be extra careful and cautious... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
i think it will help not just the school but most especially the parents. i would stand on affirmative side of it. because this will help them change the lifestyle they have if they are already into drugs. and this will stop the others who wants to try using illegal drug. [julyteen]
I am glad you you agree on this... some schools already started conducting random drug test on their students... but i think it should also be done on all employees of the school... there are some teachers who might be using... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Yes, it's very appropriate if you ask me because some people who are still very young already take drugs without their parents knowing it. And no, it doesn't cross the human rights because it doesn't do any harm to us nor take our privacy because a drug test's purpose is to know if a student or a school worker takes drugs and it helps them to cease their wrong doing before it gets any worse. And yes, in our school, we take drug tests. And I don't take drugs. [xXSnowFoxXx]
I am glad that you are in favor of drug testing in schools... we cannot be too careful as to how safe are children are... even in schools... i am also glad that your school is already implemented this... thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here... [aseretdd]
Hello aseretdd, I don't agree with this. It might be alright for the students only but to conduct drug test for the teachers too...That's just too much maybe...What will happen when the students know that their teacher, the one they believe and respect is tested positive? I don't totally agree too, to conduct a drug test in schools. Maybe there is a better place rather than the school... [gr8life]
I would certainly be a blow if students find out that their teacher is a drug user... that is why the result of the drug test should be private... and those concern are only the ones to be informed... even with the students... only the parents of those tested positive should find out... then the necessary measure would be done without the knowledge of those not involved... thanks for the response...
