Graduating from a school with more than 1,000 others (yes, we were that many)... it was so difficult to be popular... it was not the typical high school like the ones that we watch on t.v. where the cheerleaders and jocks rule... i never considered myself popular but a lot of students know my name... but i don't think that will ever be the basis of popularity....
So were you ever popular in high school?... if yes... what made you the the popular type?...

No I was never the popular one at school, I was so shy I just blended in to the background but I ahaverr since learnt I am one of the few others remember, I have come across some that i can't even remember them but they even remembered my name, so i guess it is nice to be remembered... [lilaclady]
It sometime so embarassing when i meet someone in the street... they know me... but i can't remember who they are... and it turns out that we went to the same high school... and i had to ask a lot of question just so i will have a clear memory of that person... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I got along well with just about everybody in high school. I was not popular, but I always seemed to have plenty of friends. There were only 90 something kids in my graduating class. Around 400 in the whole high school. [lilybug]
90 students in the graduating class is a small number compared to the 1,000 in my school... but if you have a lot of friends back then... you can be considered as popular in a good way... some are popular because a lot of students hate them... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
No, I was never popular in high school, but back in junior high I was known by many. Not by name, but because practically everyone knew a boy and I were going study. He wasn't the popular type either, but as we were always together while in school everyone knew us as a couple. Heck, even the teachers knew! lol LOL [sacmom]
Well, if a lot of students and even the teachers know that the two of you are going out... then you are both popular in that respect... like two hollywood couple always seen on the red carpet... i bet a lot of student envy you for having a great relationship... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I was popular but I was never the number one although I tried very hard. I think that it is God's blessing that people like us even when we don't do anything for them. [dbhattji]
Well, then you have that gift of being popular even without trying... and i think that can compensate for not being number one in class... and being popular in a positive way is something to remember and to be proud about... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
As most of you would probably guess, I was editor of the school newspaper. That required a few social skills. I never "hung out" with the cheerleading crowd, but I could talk to them. I had my own group of friends, though, and we were all quite loyal to one another. It wasn't like in the "Geek" movies, although they do resonate a bit, lol. [drannhh]
Oh i bed to disagree... being editor of the school paper requires a lot of social skills... there is a need to interact or talk to all kinds of individuals in and outside of the school... and the mere fact that even if you do not hang out with the jocks or cheerleading crowd but is still able to talk to them... then that is the perfect social skill there is... it is like... the "Geek that everybody can relate to"... not that i am calling you a geek...lol Thanks for the response... I went to three different schools in high school..so I didn't have the time to be popular anywhere. But in two of the schools, I remember I was popular in the class being the bubbly, fun loving person that I am. But this personality of mine was not evident to people who didnt know me (which is the rest of the school). I was always 'Miss Goody Two shoes' for the teachers....lol. And I enjoyed most of the daring pranks that my friends did. I think I was more popular in class because I was a scape goat....for the more daring ones. I don't know why...but I was famous at college...I don't think it was my dancing alone (I would participate in all the shows)....I never thought of it till recently...but I definitely was popular in college. My son is popular at school...lol. He's going into 3rd grade...but everyone at school (that includes students, teachers and other staff) know him. [SViswan]
lol..thanks! But here it's sometimes very mundane topics that get the most responses...psychology at work! [SViswan]
Me? Nope! i never popular..But my sister and my older brother did! I don't care...It's not a big deal for me. I am there to study, to learn and to share my talents and to build friendship. [ozzeth]
A lot of students choose to concentrate more on their studies rather than being popular... and i think there are a lot of advantages in that choice... some of my friends were quite shy... so they were happy not to be popular... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I wasent popular in high school. I was really popular in early elementary school but then I don't know why it just sort of changed. Then because I befriended some kids that were labeled scum bags I got considered one as well. So then school became really hard having to deal with how mean the other children were! In high school I just sort of rebelled and didnt care want them to know what they said bothered me so I would make myself look worse to show it didnt bother me what they said but it did if that makes any sense. My school graduation class was under 100 kids but I'm not sure of the exact amount. Not only did everyone in the grade knew each other but most everyone in the entire school knew each other as well. I think I was so obnoxious and wild that no teacher or student would ever forget who I was. LOL I might have thought that was cool at the time but now when I think back on all the crazy things I did I hope that people do forget who I am! [shaggin]
Well, the way you described it... i think you were quite popular... but in a negative way... since you are considered as the rebel of the graduating class... the rebel type is always feared and talked down too... but deep inside... students envy them because they are able to do what others dare not to... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Hey there knid of but not really a. [loveyoohbaby]
Hey there well I went to more then 1 school at 1 of the schools I was but the other one I was not a. [loveyoohbaby]
i guess the only thing that i can consider myself and my friends being a little bit popular in school. it was when my teacher and classmates would urge us to join our group in some activity contest or programs like drawing contest, slogan contest, etc. we're really shy lol that's why they always urge us and we're the only group in our class who can draw well lol [rhane7315]
Well, that means you are popular in a good way... meaning... your teachers and classmates believed in your capabilities as artists... i always wanted to learn how to draw... but my hands doesn't seem to get know how to draw even a straight line... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Hello aseretdd, I don't consider myself as a beautiful girl (maybe pretty and feminine... *laughs*) but most of my schoolmates in primary and secondary schools know myself. When I was at the university, I didn't realize that I was popular (not in the university but only in my department) until two of my professors fell in love (head over heels) with me! But, I am a loyal type of person. I only have a boyfriend and very loyal to him. There are too many funny incidents happened to me during my younger time when we talk about popularity. I remember taking the same bus every morning to my university (which takes 1 hour each trip) and met a stalker who was willing to follow me everywhere (of course without my knowledge) and stopped me once, right in front of the library just to express his feelings towards me. Oh, God! That wasn't funny but horrified! [gr8life]
Wow... a stalker... i can just imagine how horrofying that must have been... how did you make that person to stop stalking you?... i would have called the police if i were in your situation... i think you were pretty popular in school back then... you just did not notice it... thanks for the response...
